In 2021, we took a step back and asked ourselves: How can we do better?
We wanted to bring our brand into the 21st century by making it more inclusive and sustainable, while also retaining the quality of ingredients you know and trust from us.

We were founded in 2003 with a mission to make premium, quality products affordable. Since then, our goal has been not only to provide clinically-tested products that really work but to also make them accessible to everyone. We are excited to share the evolution of Proto-col as we continue to develop our range and bring new products to market. We want you to be able to easily identify which product range you are buying, so we have incorporated colour into our branding. Each colour represents a product range. We want to make sure that our products are as good for us as they are for our skin, so we plan to change some of our formulas to move away from potential harmful ingredients and move to more sustainable packaging.

We understand and are aware of the struggles men and women face on social media and the negative impact this makes on our self-worth and confidence. Without a doubt we all would much rather share our highlights of our lives on social media rather than the struggles, although understandable this ultimately has a negative impact on wellbeing and self-esteem.

Moreover, people who generally struggle with low self-esteem may feel that seeing others living their best lives is confirmationthat they’re not doing well in comparison.

The unrealistic beauty standards, not to mention the vast amount of edited photos and filters to cover human imperfections, editing apps to alter the body and face can result in an extreme pressure to look good and impress followers. It can become increasingly difficult to maintain a perfect version of yourself, which can cause frustrations and feelings of low self-esteem, particularly when your social media image doesn’t match your real life one.

We want everyone to know that beauty is within us and all around us - we don't need a filter to prove that! We want the world to embrace their own beauty and include our real customers in our campaigns.

We empower positivity and inclusivity. We believe that everyone can show up as their best self every day, and our products help them get there - no matter how they identify or how they choose to show up in the world. Everyone has value, and everyone deserves to feel worthy.

That's why we have made it our mission to create a brand that is inclusive and accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds. We know that what you put on your body matters - and we also know that "body" comes in all shapes, sizes, ages, and identities.
