Team proto-col athlete Caroline Livesey has made it onto the Beyond Going Long short list for the 2014 Triathlete of the Year, alongside World Class professionals Jodie Swallow, Lucy Gossage, Leanda Cave and Rachel Joyce.
Although Caroline's overall finishes don't compare with the other girls listed she has had a phenomenal season. All the more impressive when you consider her busy job (ave 40hr week) as a Chartered Civil Engineer.
Her results this year have been impressive and more importantly consistent. Caroline WON her AG at Ironman Texas and Ironman Austria. In addition to this Caroline also raced the British Middle Distance Championships this year and came a very close 2nd place overall against a top class field. She would have won this race but had to ride the majority of the hilly bike course with just 2 gears, after her rear gear cable snapped, a testament to her biking power and her determination to finish.
Caroline also raced Challenge Weymouth as her first Elite start but DNF'd at the 30km point on the run due to diet issues. That said she certainly worried the strong Pro field having posted the fastest bike split of the day and taking the lead very early on. Having qualified for the World Championships in KONA she finished with an outstanding 3rd place in her AG and 38 female overall (28 pro field). This has been a great year for Caroline and I hope you can find the time to support Caroline by voting for her HERE
Good Luck Caroline!
