Modern Pentathlon is an Olympic sport that comprises of five disciplines: fencing, swimming, equestrian show jumping and a combined run/shoot. The competition begins in the morning with the fencing event, followed by a 200m swim then a round of 12 obstacles in show jumping, and concludes in the afternoon with a combined running race of 3200m and 4 series of air pistol shoots after each 800m.
Samantha began Modern Pentathlon in her early teens. She competed at a junior level for international competitions such as European and World Championships and shortly progressed onto the senior international field. Samantha’s career highlights included multiple top ten finishes on the world circuit as well as a World Championship Bronze Medal and, the pinnacle, an Olympic Silver Medal from London 2012.
She currently trains at the University of Bath as a member of the British Modern Pentathlon High Performance Centre with her coach Istvan Nemeth and fellow GB squad athletes. Samantha graduated in 2013 with a 2.1 from the University of Bath with a 2.1 in French and Politics.
