Samantha Murray best of the British athletes.

Samantha Murray and Britain’s women narrowly missed out on the Bronze medal this weekend at the Modern Pentathlon European Championships in Hungary.

London 2012 Olympic silver medallist and Team proto-col sponsored athlete Samantha Murray was the best placed British finisher in the individual competition, finishing in 8th place, with Freyja Prentice just behind her in 9th.

Murray, French and Spence made up the GB team and their scores in the individual competition counted towards the team event, where Britain were just edged out of the medals in 4th.

It was another successful weekend for Team proto-col athletes as they competed all over the World.

Samantha Murray  won the British Open Modern Pentathlon Championships for the second year running.  The London Olympic Silver Medalist Samantha Murray started off the day with a swim of 2:08.13, giving her 2nd place only 8 points behind the in form Alice Fitton who recently won the Silver Medal at the Junior European Championships.

Samantha was the best of the British girls in the fencing winning 24 of the 36 fencing bouts.  After losing a few points in the ride Samantha started the combined (run/shoot) event in 3rd place, 26 seconds behind the leader.

However Samantha produced a solid combined event to secure victory with a 9 second advantage.
